Equilateral Technologies Engineers Present a New Method for Antenna Pattern Analysis at AMTA 2008

Equilateral Technologies Inc. Engineers from Equilateral Technologies presented a new method for modeling antenna patterns in the presence of supporting structures at the 30th Annual Symposium of the Antenna Measurement Techniques Association (AMTA), held November 16-21, 2008, in Boston, MA.

The presentation, entitled “Modeling Antenna Pattern Distortion Caused By Supporting Structures”, by P.A. Vicharelli and D. Fagen, presented a new technique for calculating the antenna pattern distortion caused by supporting structures such as buildings, towers, etc. The technique is based on ray tracing and the uniform theory of diffraction. The resulting distorted pattern can be saved and used as input for other applications, such as wireless network planning tools. The proposed method is fast and can considerably improve the accuracy of propagation calculations of radio frequency signals.
